Assistant Professor Marjorie N. Edguer has been promoted by the President, Provost and Board of Trustees to associate professor, non-tenure track, effective July 1, 2025.
Dr. Edguer has been a valued member of the Mandel School since 1992. Following the completion of her dissertation in 2017, she was appointed an assistant professor on the non-tenure track. Her leadership has been instrumental in the development and implementation of a new MSW curriculum that focuses on integrating learning across courses, addressing curriculum gaps and enhancing the anti-racist and anti-oppressive aspects of our program.
Dr. Edguer has made significant contributions in curriculum design and execution and has demonstrated excellence in teaching and service. She holds the highest level of social work licensure (LISW-S) and is a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor Supervisor (LICDC-CS).
Associate Professor David B. Miller has been promoted by the President, Provost and Board of Trustees to full professor, effective July 1, 2025.
Dr. Miller has been a valued member of the Mandel School since 1993, starting as an assistant professor and progressing to associate professor with tenure in 1999. His leadership as the school's associate dean for academic affairs and student services from 2021 to 2024 has further solidified the important contributions he has made to our institution.
Dr. Miller combines his expertise in social work and public health to assess critical health and social disparities, particularly focusing on fatherhood, exposure to violence, mental health, prostate cancer and thriving in later life. His research is especially dedicated to exploring resilience and strengths among marginalized populations, with a strong emphasis on Black men and youth.
