Thomas DeSilvio, a fifth-year PhD student in the lab of Satish Viswanath, PhD, received the NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA for Individual Predoctoral Fellowship (F31) to support his PhD research in developing and validating an MRI-based AI tool to identify which patients respond to total neoadjuvant therapy in rectal cancers.

Madison Albert, first-year PhD student in the lab of Will Grissom, PhD, recently received the highly-competitive NSF GRFP award for research on modeling and optimizing RF pulses for MRI. Her work aims to improve diagnostic image quality and support MRI guided interventions by optimizing these inputs to the MRI system.

Jack Xia, undergraduate student in the lab of Dr. Agata Exner, received "The Gheorghe and Claudia Mateescu Award for Research in Imaging for outstanding research contribution in the area of biomedical imaging", an award in the CWRU Dept. of BME.

Patrick Wojtylak, MSHA, CNMT, Radiology System Manager - Nuclear Medicine at University Hospitals of Cleveland, was selected to receive the SNMMI-TS Professional Development Award at this year’s SNMMI Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

Yuran Zhu, PhD, a recent BME graduate from Dr. Xin Yu’s lab, has been selected as a finalist in this year’s ISMRM Young Investigator Awards competition for her work on 3D MR Fingerprinting for Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced Imaging of the Whole Mouse Brain. Dr. Zhu presented the work at ISMRM in Honolulu.

Kristen Zarcone, a PhD student in the lab of Will Grissom, PhD, was invited to give a “pitchâ€� presentation of her abstract entitled “Mimicking Transcranial Focused Ultrasound with a DC Loop Coil for Repeatable and Safe Development of Acoustic Radiation Force Imaging Methodsâ€� in person at the ISMRM Interventional MRI â€�

The Collaborative Science Pilot Awards, a program supported by the CWRU-UH Joint Strategic Leadership Committee, recently awarded five research teams engaged in new and promising scientific studies, including a team led by Drs. Chaitra Badve and Mark Griswold.

Researchers at CWRU, UH, and Houston Methodist received two grants totaling $4M from the National Institutes of Health to develop an AI model that will analyze images from calcium-scoring computed tomography (CT) scans and predict cardiovascular risk.

Will Grissom and colleagues were awarded a five-year, $3.7M grant from the National Cancer Institute, pioneering a new approach to prostate cancer surgery by combining advanced robotics and “low-fieldâ€� MRI technology.
