After making it to the Final Four at the National Championship last month, the Jessup International Law Moot Court team at CWRU School of Law—Applicants 3L Michael Eckhart and 2L Sydney Warinner; and Respondents 1L Will Baker and 1L Elise Manchester—went 7-1 in the White and Case World Championship preliminary and advanced rounds.

It’s not often that law faculty get to shape the decision of the U.S. government on an important foreign policy matter. But CWRU School of Law faculty members and a prominent alumna got to do just that on March 21, 2022, when U.S.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has abruptly transformed the world. The unprovoked and brutal military campaign has resulted in destruction of cities, widespread civilian casualties and millions of refugees. The West has responded with crippling sanctions, and Russia has answered with implied threats to use nuclear and chemical weapons.

The Case Western Reserve University School of Law Jessup team—composed of 3L Michael Eckhart, 2L Sydney Warinner, 1L Will Baker and 1L Elise Manchester—went on a historic run at the National Championship rounds of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition from Friday, Feb. 25, to Sunday, Feb. 27.
