Maximum Award: $1,200
The Institute offers a limited number of competitive grants to support graduate student research, when it is not otherwise covered by departmental funds.
Eligibility:
Funds are available to graduate students in the arts and humanities within the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University. The Baker-Nord Institute will also consider applications from graduate students in the social sciences if there is a clear and demonstrated connection to humanistic inquiry.
Applicants can apply once during the academic year.

Applications are due by 5:00 pm on the dates indicated.
Spring 2026 Semester - October 24, 2025
Fall 2026 Semester - April 3, 2026
Policies and Expectations:
- Within one month of the completion of the grant period, recipients are required to submit a summarizing the project and describing the impact on your research. Some aspects of the final report may be used in future BNI external communication materials.
- Funds are normally available as reimbursement only, except for the acquisition of materials or similar circumstances.
