What to Expect
Because you鈥檒l be a part of a small cohort, you鈥檒l form strong connections not only with your peers, but with faculty as well. In the classroom, you鈥檒l cover a variety of topics such as the structure of materials and thermodynamics of solids, as well as phase transformations, kinetics and microstructure. And you鈥檒l attend a weekly colloquia series with industry leaders.
You鈥檒l put your knowledge to action with research opportunities alongside your PhD advisor on the subject of your choice, such as additive manufacturing, failure analysis or materials data science鈥攖o name a few.
I have had the opportunity to meet wonderful students and supportive faculty members at CWRU. A smaller classroom size makes it easy to ask questions during lectures, the research groups are really making great strides in contributing to science, and of course, [I love] the weekly happy hours! It's the drive to succeed with a positive outlook that makes the CWRU School of Engineering one of the nation's best.
