You’ll be exposed to the various facets of antiquity—specifically the blending of cultures and belief systems that made up the ancient Mediterranean world—and you’ll develop a deeper understanding of how these ancient cultures inspired the modern West and continue to have a lasting effect on global culture. 

You’ll have the opportunity to dive deep into classics through a broad selection of courses, split up by era (archaic, classical, hellenistic, republican, imperial, and medieval) and genre (epic, tragedy, comedy, history, satire, elegiac). No matter what courses interest you, you’ll explore the philological, literary, historical, social, and philosophical dimensions of ancient texts—and engage with material and visual culture through archaeology, epigraphy, art and architectural history.

The application process typically requires:

• Transcripts
• GPA: 3.5 or higher recommended
• 2 years of college-level Greek or Latin
• GRE scores
• Two letters of recommendation
