About the Program

Gain the skills required to plan, design and construct facilities to meet the needs of modern society with a dual Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. Civil engineers are in demand and work on a wide variety of projects鈥攆rom transportation systems, to schools and office buildings, bridges, dams and industrial plants. By pairing your bachelor's with a master's degree, you'll be prepared to advance quickly in a rigorous and important profession that impacts people on a daily basis. You鈥檒l come away from our program prepared to pursue a career with industrial, governmental, construction and private consulting organizations as a construction engineer, structural engineer, geotechnical engineer and more.
 

What to Expect

After enrolling as an undergraduate student at CWRU and completing 75 semester hours of coursework, you鈥檒l apply to the university鈥檚 dual BS/MS degree track. Generally, this means you鈥檒l submit your application during your sixth semester of undergraduate course enrollment鈥攚hen you have no less than two semesters of remaining BS requirements to complete. In your senior year, you can take up to nine credit hours of coursework that will count towards both degree requirements. 

In this program, you鈥檒l pay undergraduate tuition rates until you receive your bachelor's degree. Once your bachelor's degree has been awarded, you鈥檒l begin paying graduate tuition rates.

Admission Requirements

You鈥檒l submit your application to our dual-degree program during your sixth semester of undergraduate course enrollment.

The application process requires:

  • Online application, including a statement of purpose
  • Bachelor鈥檚 degree from an accredited institution (either already complete, or will be complete before you enroll)
  • Unofficial transcripts
  • Current resume/CV
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Test scores for GRE
  • International applicants: Results of TOEFL or IELTS
