About the Program

In response to the growing demand for industry experts, the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy put out a call for aerospace physiology education to be standardized—and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine answered that call.

In the Master of Science in Aerospace Physiology program, you will develop your foundational understanding of how the human body can withstand the challenges of both the aviation environment and outer space.

You’ll graduate from the only aerospace physiology master’s program in the United States with the skills needed to excel in aerospace medicine careers—be it as a research physiologist, operational physiologist or aerospace medicine physician.

What to Expect

There are several options when it comes to completing our aerospace physiology graduate program—including online, in person, part time and full time. If you’re a full-time student, you can expect to complete the 30-credit-hour program in two years; if you’re part time, plan to finish within three to four years.

No matter your desired track, you’ll have access to thought-provoking courses that explore how the human body responds in extreme environments. These courses include:

Our Center for Aerospace Physiology has been identified by NASA, NATO, the U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Navy for its excellence in aerospace research.

Beyond the Classroom

Looking to expand your knowledge of space outside of the classroom? You can create prototypes and fabricate large-scale models at Sears think[box], Case Western Reserve’s renowned innovation center. The 50,000-square-foot, seven-story building serves as an epicenter of innovation on campus—with top-of-the-line prototyping equipment, legal support and even business advice.
